  1. When experiencing difficulty in collecting a capillary blood sample, the location of the lancet puncture should be considered. It is best to avoid calloused areas. Additionally, the hand can be placed in a dependent position for a short period of time to facilitate blood collection into the fingertips. The use of a warm pack or heat application can also facilitate vasodilation and increase blood flow.
